In a moment of weakness, I went out for drinks after work last night. I have to admit that it felt pretty damn good. I'd forgotten the intense joy that stems from mutual encampment among restaurant servers. And I really needed to get drunk. And, thanks to the generosity of my fellow co-workers, I enjoyed a few free shots of Wild Turkey.
Ah, but now I'm back home. I've been locked up in my room, only retreating to eat. No words to the parents yet.
Yesterday I saw Bowling for Columbine. Few films sway my political beliefs, but I'm now completely anti-gun. However, the self-perpetuating fear that devours Americans will win out long before the voices of pacifism are heard. For those of you who hate Dick Clark and Charlton Heston, the film will hold a special (albeit skewed) appeal.
