It is a say day indeed when the Screen Actors Guild completely overlooks Meryl Streep (for both The Hours and Adaptation) in favor of Salma Hayek (Frida) and Michelle Pfeiffer. Granted, Michelle Pfeiffer is a talented actress, but her performance in White Oleander pales in comparison to Streep's role in Adaptation. And Hayek, well, her work pales in comparison to Lori Petty in Tank Girl, let alone Meryl Streep. If Hayek, the star of such hits as Wild Wild West and Fools Rush In, garners an Oscar nomination, then I've lost all faith in the "Academy" (but I'd still love to win one of those little statues).
