This is the true story, of several losers...

The fact that The Real Cancun barely managed to crack the top ten at the box office slightly restores my faith in modern movie-going audiences. After all, the movie epitomizes everything that is wrong with both Hollywood and today's audiences. A sloppy, quickly produced film with random sex and drunken stunts featuring people lionized only for their looks reflects a society that has low intelligence and places no importance on challenge or artistic merit. To attack movies such as American Beauty and Forrest Gump for their commercial appeal is to be a film snob. To criticize The Real Cancun for bastardizing the medium is to be intelligent. The deluge of reality television isn't so upsetting because the medium of television itself is dense and restricted. So to see such MTV-laden tripe waste screens at the box office is an insult to those of us still holding out for another golden age or renaissance period. Please, Bunim-Murray, refrain from making motion pictures. You've already displayed with The Real World that you have the tact and talent of a rabid monkey. Your boring, trashy cast of losers belongs on the boob tube, not on the silver screen.
