Such depth at such a young age

Torn from the pages of my mercifully brief & recently unearthed journal, June 1, 1996:

"Has it really only been 10 years since I finished Kindergarten? I'm so scare [sic] to be growing up so quickly. Marni and Jay are getting married soon, I'll bet I never see them again. I look at them and want to stay 16 forever. I can't imagine life being fun at 26 if you're obligated to get married by your mid twenties.

Last night I went out with my church friends to Chili's and then bowling. I scored 118! Tonight I'm staying home and putting together a new CD cabinet I bought at Target. I also bought the new Jars of Clay CD. I must say I have really great taste in music for being so young.

I'll bet when I'm 26 I'll listen to grunge and alternative. I'll probably be a writer in Seattle, living in a big house and letting my hair grow out. That already sounds boring.
